Pocahontas Memorial Hospital cordially invites the community to celebrate with them some exciting new facility improvements at an Open House and Room Dedication. The event will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 5:00 pm in the hospital.
Thanks to a generous bequest by a former county resident, all beds were replaced earlier this year with new ones featuring state of the art comfort and safety options. In July, the exterior of the hospital began getting a much-needed facelift with a new paint scheme. Meanwhile, inside, another more in-depth renovation has been unfolding since May. Patient Room 114 has been completely renovated with new flooring, paint, furniture, and fixtures.
These are indeed exciting times for a hospital that over the years has struggled to keep its doors open in one of the most rural and mountainous counties in the state. Just four years ago, the hospital was facing losses of over a million dollars a year and looking at the possibility of partnering with other hospitals or closing entirely. But, through the determination and dedication of staff, the Board of Directors, and new CEO Barbara Lay, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital now has a much brighter future and is excited about a new beginning in healthcare.
As the only hospital in a county with 8700 residents and over a million visitors each year, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is a vital part of the community. Hospital staff deeply values the support and friendship of its community and hope that you will join them for this very special occasion on July 24. Patient Room 114 will be dedicated and toured, light refreshments will be served, and a capital campaign to renovate the other patient rooms at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will be launched.
