Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s Auxiliary runs a Gift Shop to serve its visitors, patients, and employees. Popular items include candies and snacks, Burt’s Bees products, jewelry, seasonal items, WVU apparel, and much more.
Hospital visitors, as well as community members, are invited to stop in to browse and shop. New items are constantly being added.
The Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1972 with 94 active and associate members. Over the Auxiliary’s forty year existence, an estimated $100,000 of equipment and improvements at the hospital have been paid for from their treasury. Funds are raised through the Gift Shop and various fundraisers.
Recent purchases for the hospital include wall mount otoscopes, a bariatric wheelchair, GPS systems for EMS, a phlebotomy cart, and flooring in the Dining Room. One of the Auxiliary’s most popular projects is the Christmas Love Light Tree. Since 2014, all funds raised from the tree have been contributed to PMH’s Capital Campaign for room improvements.
The Auxiliary encourages anyone interested in joining their group to attend one of their monthly meetings, held in the hospital Conference Room on the second Tuesday of each month at 2pm. The Auxiliary is open to both men and women. You can commit as much or as little time to the group as you wish; all they ask is that you be willing to work towards the good of the hospital. If you have any questions about the Auxiliary, please contact, Sara Casto at ext 1020.
Donations can be made to the Auxiliary, in care of Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
