Visitation

Visitor Information

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital understands the stress of having a family member or friend in the hospital. We hope that the following information will help make your time here a little easier.

Cell phones

Unless you are a Verizon customer, your cell phone will not work in the hospital. AT&T is the preferred carrier in the towns of Marlinton and Hillsboro.

Wi Fi

Wireless internet access is available inside the hospital facility. Please ask a member of our staff for information on accessing the network.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital are 9 am — 9 pm. However special provisions can be made for parents, children, or caregivers.

Smoking

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is a tobacco-free facility. Smoke areas for staff and visitors are across Duncan Road in the grassy area.

Requesting information

Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will not release information about a patient without special verification. Each patient is given a four digit access code upon admission. It is the patient’s decision as to who to share this code with. If you wish to call in and request information, you will be asked for this code.

Where to eat

Meals are available in the hospital dining room at minimal pricing. A hot bar is available daily, as well as soup and salad options for lunch and dinner. Hot breakfast is available until 8am and light breakfast items until 8:30am. Lunch is served 11am—1pm and dinner 4:30pm—6:00 pm. Please ask a member of our staff for a listing of other local dining options.

Where to stay

If you find yourself in need of a place to stay, Marlinton and the surrounding area offer several options. Again, please ask a member of our staff if you need assistance.

Gift shop

A hospital gift shop offers small gifts, books, and candy. All proceeds go to the Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for improvement projects around the facility.

Infection control

Infection control is everyone’s responsibility. Help us prevent the spread of germs by washing your hands often and practicing healthy hygiene. Hand sanitizer is located inside the door of each patient room.
