BUCKEYE, WV: Pocahontas Memorial Hospital recently received an Excellence in Patient Care award from outcomes firm Studer Group. The award was presented for the hospital’s exemplary “Room was always clean” results on the HCAHPS patient survey. Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s oustanding results ranked them among the highest from a database of over 850 organizations coached by the firm.
HCAHPS, or Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, is a national standardized survey tool used to measure inpatient perception of the quality of care they receive at a given acute care hospital.
Reba Arbogast, Supervisor of the Housekeeping and Dietary Departments, accepted the award on behalf of her team from Debbie Caskey, a Coach and Account Leader with Studer Group. “It belongs to them,” Arbogast said as she then presented the award to the Housekeeping Department at a special program held at the hospital on November 7th.
This is the second Excellence in Patient Care award that Pocahontas Memorial Hospital has won in two years. In 2012, the hospital won in the “Medication Communications” category.
