Pocahontas Memorial Hospital Welcomes Dr. Chris Butcher

BUCKEYE, WV – Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Christian “Chris” Butcher, MD, a Pulmonary Specialist, has joined Pocahontas Memorial Hospital’s Pulmonology Clinic staff full time at its location on Duncan Road.

Dr. Butcher received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Miramar, Florida in 2000.  He trained in Internal Medicine in Morgantown and Baltimore, Maryland; then completed subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at West Virginia University School of Medicine.  He has worked as a Staff Intensivist and a Staff Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician in facilities such as Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia; LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia; and most recently Logan Health Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, Montana.

Dr. Butcher was born in Baltimore, Maryland but has family roots to central West Virginia.  He is married and has three sons, the oldest a current sophomore at WVU.  Dr. Butcher and his family have a home in Pocahontas County, as well as a farm in Amherst, Virginia.  He and his family enjoy mountain biking, hiking, and skiing.  

Dr. Butcher is looking forward to starting his new practice at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and sees it as a good fit. “I’m happy to be a part of this team and I am looking forward to providing excellent care to the patients of Pocahontas County,” he says enthusiastically. 

Dr. Butcher joins Ambra Nida, FNP in diagnosing and providing treatment for patients with lung disease and airway disorders such as COPD, asthma, chronic lung infections, respiratory failure and lung cancer. In addition, he provides treatment for patients with sleep disorders.

“The addition of Dr. Butcher makes our Pulmonology team significantly stronger,” says Dean Gunter, CardioPulmonary and Provider-Based Clinics Director, “I am excited to have him on board.”
