Pocahontas Memorial Hospital understands the difficulty many residents of our county have in traveling extensive distances to see a specialist, for various conditions.  PMH is committed to helping people receive the care they need close to home.

Our Pulmonology Clinic can diagnose and provide treatment for patients with:

  • lung disease
  • airway disorders such as COPD, asthma, chronic lung infections, respiratory failure and lung cancer
  • treatment for patients with sleep disorders

Dr. Christian Butcher, MD

Pulmonology Clinic

Dr. Christian “Chris” Butcher grew up in Maryland, but has family roots to central West Virginia. He trained in Internal Medicine in Morgantown and Baltimore, MD; completing subspecialty training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at WVU.

Dr. Butcher is married with three sons. The Butcher family has a home in Pocahontas County, as well as a farm in Amherst, Virginia.

Ambra Nida, FNP

Pulmonology Clinic

Ambra Nida received her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from Radford University in Radford, Virginia specializing in Family Practice with a Gerontology certificate.

Ambra most recently worked for Greenbrier Physicians at their Covington, Virginia clinic; but has worked in a variety of settings including emergency, urgent care, post-acute and long-term care, assisted living, and hospice.  Ambra began working in our Pulmonology Clinic in April 2023.
